Chief Charles Orie visits Umuokanne General Hospital

In continuation of the Chief Charles Orie Foundation’s commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to the indigenes of Imo State, the Foundation paid a visit to Umuokanne General Hospital today, January 17, 2026, where it donated medical disposables and pharmaceutical supplies to support the hospital’s operations.

In addition to the medical supplies, the Foundation also made a cash donation of ₦20 million to the hospital. This generous contribution is aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and easing the financial burden on patients who are unable to afford medical care.

The donation was made to ensure that indigent patients receive free medical treatment and medications when they access healthcare services at the hospital. Furthermore, non-indigent patients will benefit from medications at a 50 percent subsidized rate, thereby making quality healthcare more affordable to a wider segment of the population.

The Foundation strongly believes in the provision of free and subsidized medical care, as this is standard practice in many developed and civilized societies where access to healthcare is regarded as a fundamental human right rather than a privilege.

In line with this vision, the Foundation has pledged to sustain and finance this initiative and intends to use Umuokanne General Hospital as a pilot center for free and affordable healthcare for the people of Imo State. The long-term goal is to replicate this model across other healthcare facilities within the state.

The Chief Charles Orie Foundation has a long-standing history of charity and philanthropy in Imo State. Since December 2025, the Foundation has partnered with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to provide solar lighting to several communities across the state, thereby improving security and enhancing the quality of life of residents.

In addition, the Foundation has organized Christmas celebrations for orphanage homes, made donations to support their needs, provided assistance to prison inmates, and distributed food items and household supplies to various communities across Imo State, Nigeria.

Through these sustained humanitarian efforts, the Chief Charles Orie Foundation continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to social responsibility, community development, and the overall well-being of the people of Imo State.
