History was made this weekend in Paris, France, as Chief Charles Orie was honoured with the prestigious African Man of the Year 2026 Award at the Making Africa Great Ahead (MAGA) 2026 Conference and GIFA D’OR Awards Gala.

From June 5–7, 2026, members of the Imo diaspora and distinguished guests from across Africa and Europe gathered in Paris to celebrate excellence in leadership, service, and community development. During the event, Chief Charles Orie received the coveted award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to grassroots development, youth empowerment, humanitarian service, and public leadership.

Although Chief Orie was unable to attend due to pressing engagements in Nigeria, a high-powered delegation from Imo State Progressives for Change (ISPC) 2027 proudly received the award on his behalf.

Leading the delegation was Chief Hypolite Osondu Ogazi, alongside other members of the ISPC 2027 team in France. Their participation ensured that Imo State was prominently represented at this global gathering of African leaders, policymakers, investors, and diaspora stakeholders.
Speaking on the significance of the award, Dr. Veronica Osokoya, a member of Imo State Progressives for Change in France, stated:
“Chief Orie’s impactful leadership and dedication to the people have placed Imo State firmly on the global map. We are honoured to receive this recognition on his behalf and to leverage this platform to foster new partnerships that will benefit all 27 Local Government Areas of Imo State.”
